First Edition – March 2008

This directory is made possible by the generous contributions of time and energy of the volunteers of the Mason County Senior Activities Center. Their dedication to this project has made a dream come true. Since I started in this position as Administrator, I realized that seniors needed a resource to turn to answering their questions which were asked of me over the past year. As one of my heroes said, “all politics is Local.” Using Mr. Speaker Tip O’Neal’s premise, I knew that this directory had to be local in focus and far seeing in scope.

Thank You to our volunteers for the countless hours and over ten versions of this directory which took hundreds of hours to compile, checking facts and figures. Thank you in no particular order to Jeanie White, Marni Parker, Bev. Scott, Shirley Schober, Joan Nantz, Nancy Jones, Claire Voskuhl and all other contributors that made this possible.

I also want to thank Dale Hubbard of K M A S for sharing my vision and seeing that this directory needed to be funded. He supplied the printer, Ron Harrel and this first Edition. K M A S has donated the cost of printing for the privilege of advertising on the back page. Thank you Dale for your financial support.

Thanks also to Golden Heritage Financial formerly Amtec Funding for picking up the funding shortfall caused by expanding this publication from the original concept of 24 pages to 44 pages. They thought that it should be as comprehensive as possible.

Several organic sources were used to compile this directory. I want to personally thank Dennis Mahar from the Lewis Mason Thurston Area Agency on Aging (L,M,T, AA on A), and Merridee Anderson from the local office of L,M,T, AA on A for permission to use their Senior Resource Directory as a primary source. Shelton-Mason County Journal, Hood Canal Communication Union Telephone Book, My Yellow Pages 2007 of Mason County, Native American Elder’s Resource Directory under the auspices of the South Puget Sound Intertribal Planning Agency, Kitsap Peninsula Senior Resources, and Patty Ayalla-Ross of Timberland Regional Library’s William G. Reed Public Library - Shelton.

We now need your help to correct this First Edition. There are oversights and omissions. When you find them please call Fred Corbett personally at MCSAA (360) 426-7374      or E-Mail: mcsaafc@hctc.com

This directory provides information to assist those who may be in need of help with community programs and services, in-home services, a decision to move to another residence, or selecting a nursing home or convalescent center. It is provided as a starting point only and as an encouragement to the residents of Mason County to reach out and seek help. Please do not hesitate to call any of the numbers listed for more specific information.

If you are confused about whom to call, or you cannot get answers to your questions, simply contact either of the agencies listed below:
